The Serpent and the New Adam

The first Adam was charged to tend and protect the garden.
(Genesis 2:15)

He failed. The serpent entered unchallenged and seduced his bride.
(Genesis 3)

A large group of soldiers with torches
came up the mountain road in the darkness
to the Garden of Gethsemane:
a fiery serpent.

The New Adam faced them at the gate
and commanded them to let His Bride (the Church, the Apostles) go,
at the cost of His own life.
(John 18:3-9)

This is the success of manliness.
